Wish You Were Here is the title track on Pink Floyd's 1975 album Wish You Were Here. Its lyrics encompass Roger Waters' feelings of alienation from other people.

British artist Ed Sheeran performed a cover of this song at the Closing Ceremonies of the London Olympic Games in 2012 with Mike Rutherford, Richard Jones, David Arnold and Nick Mason on drums.

LyricsEdit

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

Did they get you to trade
Your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
Did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.
